The best homemade soft dinner rolls! My mom has been making these rolls for years and I’ve loved carrying on that tradition in our own home. They pair so well with any soup, side dish with dinners and make great sandwiches with leftover ham or rotisserie chicken.

They’re soft and fluffy and they’re pretty easy to make with just a handful of staple pantry ingredients. You can make them by hand or with a stand mixer and they’re delicious served warm out of the oven with a dab of butter. Yum!!
This dinner roll recipe makes 12 medium sized rolls. You can easily double the recipe as I often do when I know we’ll have a houseful. It goes quickly once you learn how to roll them out bakery style.

Hope you enjoy them as much as our family! 🙂
Yield: 12 rolls
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cups warm milk
- 2.5 tablespoons honey
- 2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast
- 1/4 cup oil (this is what I use)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/4 cups flour
INSTRUCTIONS
- Add milk, honey and yeast to a large bowl. Give it a stir and allow the yeast to activate for 5-10 minutes. Once it’s nice and foamy, add oil, eggs, salt and flour. Mix for about 30 seconds until combined. With the kneading hook attached, knead dough on low speed for 5-7 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel and allow the dough to rise in a warm place until it has doubled, about 45 min-1 hour.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal rolls. Roll each ball into a smooth ball by cupping the hand in a “c” shape over the roll and moving it around in a small circle on a flat work surface. Place rolls into a greased 9×13″ pan, cover and rise for 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350F. Bake for 20 minutes, until nice and golden.
- Brush butter over tops of the warm rolls.
