Orange Glazed Baked Ham

December 11, 2020

This irresistible, mouthwatering orange glazed ham is a must have for your holiday dinners. It couldn’t be easier to prepare, only takes 5 minutes to prep and it’s baked to perfection!

You can never go wrong with making a ham for any occasion really. If I host a dinner, I always go for the ham. My first Easter that I hosted my family, I didn’t cook the ham long enough and ran out of time. LOL! (We ate it at 11pm instead when it was finally done!) But good thing I always have an overabundance of side dishes so everyone was full and happy. But my sisters haven’t let me forget it. 😉

The orange glaze is perfectly spiced with cloves, ginger and dry mustard and sweetened with brown sugar and ginger ale. It’s smoky and sweet and pairs so well with any side dish on your holiday table. Your house is going to smell amazing white the ham is roasting in the oven! 🙂 Baked ham also makes for the best leftovers – sandwiches (just have lots of homemade rolls on hand!), quiche, soups, ham and eggs for breakfast… the possibilities are endless, my friends!

Yield: 12-16 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (8-9 lbs) smoked bone in spiral cut ham, fully cooked
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup ginger ale
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a medium bowl, add orange juice, ginger ale, brown sugar, vegetable oil, white vinegar, dry mustard, ginger and cloves. Whisk until fully combined.
  2. Trim skin away from ham and remove the fat to 1/4 thickness. Place ham in a large roasting bag. Pour the marinade over the ham and tie bag tightly. Place in a large bowl, and refrigerate for 8 hours, turning occasionally.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350F with rack on the lowest position.
  4. Remove ham from the marinade and reserve the marinade. Place ham in a shallow roasting pan and pour marinade over ham. Bake for 80-90 minutes, basting ham thoroughly every 15 minutes.
  5. To serve pre-cut slices, arrange slices neatly on a serving platter and garnish with fresh herbs and orange slices. Spoon pan drippings over the ham and serve immediately.
