This seasoning is so versatile — you can add or subtract as much or as little of the spices that you like.
Homemade Taco Seasoning tastes so much better than store bought, it’s preservatives free, and loaded with an abundance of flavor. It’s definitely the jar of seasoning that gets used more than anything else in my spice cupboard.
Trust me, once you make this recipe and taste the difference, you will never go back to buying the packets.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 3 teaspoons ground cumin
- 3 teaspoons garlic powder
- 3 teaspoons paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
INSTRUCTIONS
- Add all ingredients to a small bowl or jar. Stir or shake until thoroughly combined.
- Store in a sealed glass mason jar or any airtight spice jar that you have.
- It keeps for several months at room temperature.
Recipe Notes
- Use 2-3 tablespoons with 1 pound of ground meat or shredded chicken and 1/3 cup water. The water helps to combine and coat the crumbles evenly. Let simmer for a few minutes until the water has absorbed.
- I often make a larger batch by doubling, tripling, or quadrupling the recipe. I personally make a big batch, and always have enough seasoning to use on hand. So easy and convenient!
- If you want a spicier taco seasoning mix, then just add more chili powder and/or red chili flakes.
